house hunting

Man, looking for a house is the most exhausting experience I have ever encountered! I went out yesterday with my mom and Chris and the kids to look at the new homes in our area. Luckily for us, prices are starting to even out and become more affordable. But after looking for a couple of hours in the 108 + heat, all I wanted to do was come home and sleep!
We did find a house that we really like. I took J to look at it last night and he really liked it a lot. It's 1880 sq. ft. and has the potential for 4 bedrooms. It's a great setup. There are a few drawbacks though. The backyard is small, there would be no driveway (these homes are in a "courtyard" configuration) and the ones that are being released are backed up to the railroad tracks. So, we aren't sure what to do. I am going back today to ask a few more questions and to see if they will be releasing any other homes in another area soon. The time for new builds has gone from 18-20 mos. (last year) to 7-8 mos. So, that's perfect timing for us. Just pray that what is supposed to be will be. We are excited to find something that is actually affordable.
Anyway, that's it for the week. We are going to Big Surf waterpark with my family tomorrow. Still haven't heard much on work....lots of "possiblities" but still nothing for the right now. Thanks for all the prayers! Keep them coming!

I have learned that we never get everything we want but have so much. I know you will find a house that will work well for you.

Not to scare you unintentionally, but if it backs up to the railroad, it may eventually become a light-rail pathway. It's at least 20 years off because Mesa refuses to pay for its share, but it could eventually happen. Something to consider.

Another tip: Big Surf rules, but absolutely do not let anyone go there without at least a good pair of sandals (I would suggest water shoes). They don't water all the sand, so it gets really, really hot in places. Otherwise, Big Surf is da bomb!

Ditto on the rail tracks - check out the train type, schedule and future plans. Even one train a day will rock the foundations as it passes right behind a house, perhaps at 5:30 in the morning... as was the unstated case for one of the houses we looked at in Boston years ago. Fortunately that train also rumbled passed while we were looking around - even the Realtor had a surprised look on her face.

I'd keep looking around. You'll find the one where the Holy Spirit suddenly gives you His peace, even if it's not perfect in every way.

A back yard for the kids is always a biggie for me - somewhere safe enough where you don't have to constantly supervise them - gives you some time and them some space to explore freely.
